The academy currently function in a three story building within the KAU campus. Located at Vellanikkara, Thrissur. The academy aims to achieve excellence in the education, research and management aspects of climate change. The course is conducted in a multi-disciplinary approach and availing the support of various national and international institutions.it was officially inaugurated on 06.09.2010 by the Finance Minister of Kerala, Dr.T.M.Thomas Isacc. The first batch were enrolled in the same year.
It was a major milestone in the development of the academy when Mr. K. P. Mohanan, Honorable Minister of Agriculture, Kerala laid the foundation stone for a new and more spacious building for the academy, Dr.K.R. Vishambharan. The Former Vice Chancellor of KAU has provided his wholehearted support in the evolution of the course and promoted it.
The academy is the first of its kind in Asia and therefore hopes to address a wide range of climate change related issues including natural hazards, declining food production, developing stress tolerant crop varieties, reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
